Arizona Getaway Photo Dump & Recap

4:02 PM

Last weekend we had our first getaway, just the two of us - our first trip together in 5 years! This little vacation was so good and deserves a little photo dump on the blog. We spent 3 days in the Phoenix area and filled our time with as much fun & adventure as we could!

We had the cutest little Airbnb, I realize I don't have pics, but if you follow me on Instagram I gave a little tour when we got in. It was in the Coronado district - palm trees lined the streets outlining cute, updated mid century homes, and we were in walking distance of anything we needed. We found this cute coffee shop, The Coronado  where we'd grab a coffee before heading out on the day's adventure.

Exploring Saguaro National Park was so fun, it was absolutely gorgeous (and warm! 80 degrees compared to the 40 degrees here in Oregon was so welcome!). We hiked Wasson Peak, a good 8 mile loop and could see everything for miles & miles at the top. The cacti were in full bloom as well after a wet spring, gorgeous blooms everywhere we looked.

We also ventured to the Desert Botanical Gardens - I'd highly recommend a stop if you're in the area, I can't wait to go back and take the girls to the butterfly exhibit - literally thousands of butterflies fluttering around you!

Food was amazing - typical Mexican restaurants do not even come close to the real, authentic dishes we enjoyed - we loved both Barrio Cafe and Rosita's place was delicious too! If you prefer to get away from mainstream franchise restaurants, and prefer a unique hold-in-the-wall kinda place with the best food - these were our favs!

We made it to a Diamondbacks baseball game and spent plenty of time exploring the surrounding areas - the peace & quiet and ability to relax was much needed!

Have you been to AZ? Planning a trip? I'd love to hear all your favs & recommendations!

the view from the top of Wasson Peak was stunning!
